Walking is a crucial part of Mooli, Gajar, and Mishti’s routine, not just for exercise, but for bonding and mental stimulation. Over the years, I’ve fine-tuned our walks with the right tools and timing, making each outing enjoyable for everyone involved.
1. Choose the Right Leash
Mooli loves to explore, so a retractable leash gives her the freedom to roam but still allows me to control the pace when needed. Gajar, being more relaxed, is fine with a standard flat leash, which works well for our everyday strolls.
2. Harness vs. Collar
For both Mooli and Gajar, I swear by harnesses, especially since they tend to pull on walks. Front-clip harnesses help redirect their energy, making the walk much smoother. For Mishti, I use a snug, escape-proof harness for our outdoor adventures, ensuring she’s safe while exploring.
3. Timing and Weather
We’re all about adjusting our walks based on the weather. In the summer, I make sure to walk them either early in the morning or during the evening to avoid the midday heat. I always carry water on longer walks to keep them hydrated, especially in warmer weather.
4. Mental Stimulation
Walks aren’t just about exercise; they’re an opportunity for Mooli, Gajar, and Mishti to engage with their environment. Whether it’s sniffing around or watching birds, I let them take their time and explore, knowing that this mental stimulation is just as important as physical exercise.
5. Safety Essentials
Reflective gear is a must for our evening walks. I ensure all three wear reflective harnesses or vests so they’re visible in low-light conditions. And, of course, I never forget to bring waste bags to clean up after them—it’s all about being considerate to our community.
Walking is a special time for Mooli, Gajar, Mishti, and me. With the right tools and a bit of planning, each walk becomes a wonderful, enriching experience that we all look forward to. 🐾
